The hero is heroic and the villain duly wicked, the lady is fine and dainty and all the cast is thrown into a marvelous turmoil only to be confoundingly set to rights in the end. The more I read these old romance novels the more annoyed I am that I keep seeing horrid movies based on lousy books.
